We are proud to announce that the University of Sannio, Benevento (Italy) will present “Laurea Honoris Causa” (Honor Degree) in Informatic Engineering to Victor Robert Basili for his continual and outstanding contribution to Software Engineering.

The standard celebration for an honorary graduation includes laudation, dissertation, formal assignment of the title, and a social event. The celebration is planned for 5 - 6 April 2004, in Benevento, Italy, starting from around 10:00 AM.

The preliminary program for the extended celebration is as follows.

5 April 2004: FULL DAY. Symposium on (tentative title) Empirical Software Engineering Lessons Learnt in Twenty Years: a Baseline for future research. Participation at the symposium will be free of charge for audience.

6 April 2004: MORNING. Assigning Laurea Honoris Causa to Vic Basili.

Participation to the celebration is welcome from all the people involved in Software Engineering and related fields or, simply, interested in the outstanding profile of Victor R.Basili.
